Tyrese Haliburton had a shocking truth to reveal after winning Game 2 of the first round. The NBA all-star stated that his little brother was called the n-word during the game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Haliburton said this during his post-game interview after the win. However, he did not go into detail about the event, but the athlete said that his brother “handled it the correct way.” Especially with the playoff atmosphere.
According to TMZ, Tyrese grew up near Milwaukee and has many family members in attendance for the first-round series. That includes his three brothers. Haliburton went on to say that all of his family is handling the environment very well. The NBA Playoffs can be overwhelming for some. Just the other night, Nikola Jokic’s brother punched a fan in the stands after the Nuggets took Game 2.
The Milwaukee Bucks Respond to Tyrese Haliburton’s Claims
The Milwaukee Bucks released a statement saying the alleged incident was reported to security. Although the accused fan denied saying the slur. The Bucks’ statement reads as follows:
“An arena guest services representative reported that during Sunday’s game, a few guests were not sitting in their correct seats,” the Bucks said. “The guest services representative asked the group to move one section over to their correct seats. Then, one of the individuals in the group claimed to the representative that a person sitting in front of him had used a derogatory term toward him. The accused person denied the accusation. The group moved to their correct seats, and no further incident was reported.” We take our fan environment extremely seriously and are committed to providing a safe and secure experience.”
This incident marked the last time Tyrese Haliburton would play as the away team until April 30th. The series against the Milwaukee Bucks is shifting to Indiana. In the meantime, the series is tied at one game apiece and is one of the more interesting matchups of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
