In a video lending support to Fiji’s prime minister Frank Bainimarama, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he has begun filming Terminator 6.
Terminator 6 will be a reboot of the series after the bust that was Terminator: Genisys. Taking place after the events of Terminator 2 (essentially erasing the other sequels from canon), Schwarzenegger will once again play as an aging T-800.
Along with Schwarzenegger, it has been confirmed that Linda Hamilton will return to reprise her legendary role as Sarah Connor. British actor Jude Collie is also rumored to be playing Sarah’s young son and last hope for humanity, John Connor.
Tim Miller, best known for his work on the original Deadpool film, will be directing this reboot. Director of the first two Terminator films, James Cameron, is set to return to the franchise as an executive producer.
Last year, it was reported that this reboot was looking for a new lead star to be the central focus of these new films. That lead star appears to be Colombian actress Natalia Reyes. Reyes will star as newcomer Dani Ramos. Here is her character synopsis from Den of Geek:
“Dani Ramos is a young woman in her early 20s from Mexico City. She was brought up in a working-class neighborhood, is independent and believes strongly in family. She’s more street smart than book smart and is a woman who always manages to find a ray of light even in the darkest of circumstances.”
Hopefully, this reboot can be the first step in the right direction for a franchise that used to be regarded as one of the greatest in movie history.
Terminator 6 is set to release November 22nd, 2019.
