Tammy and Amy Slaton’s weight-loss journey on 1000-Lb Sisters started in season 1, with the two sisters tipping the scales at a combined 1000 lbs. However, while Amy quickly adjusted to the new lifestyle changes, Tammy struggled with unhealthy food addictions.
In 2020, Amy successfully underwent bariatric surgery, much to the delight of fans. Tammy, on the other hand, continued to add weight and even peaked at 717 lbs. Eventually, a nearly bedridden Tammy agreed to check into a rehab center to aid her in her weight-loss journey. Soon after she was admitted to the rehab facility, Tammy almost died after her lungs collapsed, and she had to be placed in an induced coma. After surviving the health scare, Tammy turned a new leaf and quickly dropped the required weight for her bariatric surgery.
Since getting her bariatric surgery, Tammy has consistently updated fans on her progress and impressed them with her body transformation. On Reddit, fans talked about Tammy’s astonishing transformation after a user u/COclimbergirl, shared a picture of the reality star standing unaided. The OP captioned the picture writing,
“The weight loss is incredible. But look at the happiness in her smile!” In the picture, Tammy certainly looked in high spirits and fans immediately trooped to the comments section to express their admiration for her new look.
1000-Lb Sisters’ Tammy Can Now Stand Without Help
Since 1000-Lb Sisters debuted in 2019, viewers have hardly seen Tammy standing alone without help. She mainly used a wheelchair to move around, and at some point, she was consigned to a bed, unable to get on her feet. But all that seems to be forgotten in the past, with Tammy now able to stand on her feet without help. In the recent picture shared on Reddit, Tammy smiled as she stood close to her wheelchair while posing with some friends and family.
Many 1000-Lb Sisters viewers were simply in awe of Tammy’s transformation and couldn’t hide their excitement while commenting on the thread. One user u/VikingKvinna, wrote:
“WOW! What a transformation. I don’t follow her on social so this is the first pic I’ve seen without a trach, I think. That’s remarkable.”
Understandably, Tammy still makes use of a wheelchair to move around. After many years of not using her leg muscles, it may take several months of therapy before she can walk a considerable distance without any help.

Whatever the case, Tammy looked very happy with her current looks and the overall progress on her weight-loss journey. For someone bedridden for so long and heavily dependent on people to do essential things, it must feel refreshing to be able to stand on her own for the first time in a long time.
Any questions about Tammy’s true state of mind evaporated with her beaming smile while posing in the picture. The social media influencer radiated so much happiness, and it was clear how much her progress meant to her. While commenting on the thread, one particular fan, u/therealprincess232, noted,
