4chan, known for being one of the most notorious forums on the internet for fostering toxic anonymity, has finally been taken down. The site was hacked by what appears to be a rival group called Soyjak Party, which splintered away from the site after a dispute. At the moment, 4chan’s servers are still shut down, and it’s not clear when they will be coming back — or if at all — due to the severity of the hacking.
The report came explicitly from the rival group Soyjak Party itself, where they claimed in celebration that one of their hackers managed to execute “true operation soyclipse” on April 14. The hack involved taking control of the site and exposing personal information of the 4chan staff. Hence, it led to 4chan moderators, admins, and other staff members getting doxxed or having their online anonymity ruined. Furthermore, additional information from 4chan staff could also be used to track their locations.
“Tonight has been a very special night for many of us at the soyjak party. Today, April 14, 2025, a hacker, who has been in 4cuck’s system for over a year, executed the true operation soyclipse, reopening /qa/, exposing personal information of various 4cuck staff, and leaking code from the site.
In an attempt to control the damage, 4cuck admins have taken all servers offline, but there are unconfirmed reports that the servers have already been completely compromised and may not be up for some time.
There has been a flood of refugees from 4cuck onto the sharty, most of whom are not adjusting well to the culture.

In addition to the personal info, important code from the site has also been leaked. In response, 4chan had to shut down all its servers to prevent further damage, hacking attempts, and exploitations. Right now, 4chan is more or less inaccessible to the internet after decades of operation and notoriety; the site was known for being a hotbed for confidential info leaks even from corporations such as Disney, Microsoft, Valve, Intel, etc.
In the past, 4chan was even well-known as the ground zero for the spread of the 2014 nude celebrity photo leak, which exposed and violated the privacy of high-profile celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton. 4chan is also notorious for fostering racists, fascists, and other controversial political alignments on the site.
The Old /qa/ and Soyjak Party Beef, Explained
Going back to the 4chan takedown, the hacker used an uploaded fake PDF file that contained a command or script, allowing the uploader to elevate admin access to the whole 4chan site. The hacker then did the dirty work (info leaks) while also unlocking /qa/ or the previous server of the Soyjak Party.
In the past, members of the /qa/ server of 4chan were locked away due to disputes, which led to the formation of the Soyjak Party, who then carried out their revenge against 4chan.
As for why the Soyjak Party hacked and took down 4chan (as they claimed), the Soyjak Party was mostly comprised of old /qa/ users from 4chan, which has developed its own culture within the site. Supposedly, members of the /qa/ group cyber-raided the /lgbt/ server on 4chan, leading the site moderators to close the /qa/ server four years ago.
Some artists have chimed in on the matter, however, saying that the 4chan attack is ironic and poetic, stating that Soyjak Party is not exactly better, especially considering why and how they got expelled from 4chan.
