After the Titan of Time Chronos takes away Hades and his family, Melinoe is the only one left to fight back and take revenge. But being a part of the Greek Gods bloodline, Melinoe will always get support from the Olympians and its King, Zeus. However, not all the powers that the gods offer are super useful, and some of them are just better choices than others. These powers are called Boons in Hades 2, and here are the top 5 best of them to pick early in the game.
Boons of Aphrodite: Flutter Strike
Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty, appears after you do your first run in the game. Whenever she’s offering powers, there are three options to choose from. But only the first is the best here to pick, just like many of the other Boons in Hades 2. The Flutter Striker is a massive buff to your normal attacks, which you’ll use more often during your run.
Boons of Hephaestus: Volcanic Strike
Speaking of buffs, the Volcanic Strike in Boon of Hephaestus is just broken! Once acquired, your first damage in every encounter drains 200 HP from any nearby foe that you hit. This number is what a one-shot kill is supposed to be on the early targets in the game. And oh my, that sound of hammer and iron that it makes when you hit the target is just soul-freshening. This is probably the best Boon you’ll get early in Hades 2, and it recharges in the same encounter by 12 seconds.
Boons of Poseidon: Fluid Gain
Specials and Casts drain an amount of your power, indicated by a blue meter above your HP. Now, there are certain buffs and tricks to refill this meter to use your Specials and Casts more often, and Fluid Gain is one of them. Whenever you slay an opponent, they have a chance of dropping a blue orb, refilling your power gauge by 20 points.
Boons of Hestia: Smolder Ring
What if you set foes on fire? This is how you can have an upper hand even if you’re just running away from them. Definitely recommended for crowded encounters, the Smolder Ring allows Melinoe to burn anyone within her Cast ring. This will deal 40 damage to anyone inside every 1 second, which can be a great source of DoT.
Boons of Demeter: Ice Flourish
As you move on and clear through stages, enemies get shields and powers and increase in numbers. So, if you’re surrounded by a bunch of laser-shooting, dashing, and ambushing foes, the best you can do is to slow them down first and then attack them at ease. The Ice Flourish Boon of Demeter allows just that, which is best for nimble enemies that dodge and move fast in Hades 2.
Now remember, sometimes the first time that you meet a god they may not offer you exactly the same Boons that we described as best in Hades 2. Most gods have two lists, and you’ll get the other in your second run. So, keep slaying your way through, and when you see any of these Boons, let them overpower you in the game. Death To Chronos!
Hades 2 is currently available to play on PC via Steam and Epic Games.
