Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton is one of the many big-time Hollywood stars who lost their home in the devastating California fires. The Simple Life star first shared footage of the spreading fires on her Instagram on January 8th. “Heartbroken beyond words,” the 43-year-old shared. “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.”
The next day, Hilton shared a short clip of herself standing in what remained of her house, calling the moment “indescribable.” She continued, “When I first saw the news, I was in complete shock—I couldn’t process it. But now, standing here and seeing it with my own eyes, it feels like my heart has shattered into a million pieces.” Paris’ emotional caption also mentioned her children, the “art” they made, and the times they “dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories” together.
Hilton was also sure to let her followers know that she and her impact teams were “committed to offering help as soon as possible and making a meaningful difference for those who need it most.”
Tina Knowles
Beyoncé and Solange’s mother, Tina Knowles, is another one of the big-time Hollywood stars who lost their home. On Instagram, she said that her “favorite, sacred, happy” place was “gone.” She thanked the “brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions.” As she continued, she spent some time reflecting, noting that the disaster could’ve been “so much worse.”
Tina’s superstar daughter, Beyoncé, also spoke out about the fires during the week of January 13. Before postponing her surprise announcement on January 14, she donated $2.5 million to LA fire relief. The donation is “earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers.”
Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson, known for his role in Braveheart, spoke about the “emotional” fires during an interview with NewsNation. During his time on the show, the Hollywood star said that while he was away filming in Austin, Texas, the blaze destroyed his Malibu home. “Obviously, it’s kind of devastating. It’s emotional,” he said. “You live there for a long time, and you had all your stuff.”
Although the actor lost all of his belongings in the California fires, his chickens survived in what he called an “amazing” miracle. “The good news is that those in my family and those I love are all well, and we’re all happy and healthy and out of harm’s way; that’s all I can care about, really,” he finished.
Cameron Mathison
General Hospital star and father of two Cameron Mathison lost his home in the Palisades fire and updated his fans in a chilling Instagram post. “We are safe, But this is what’s left of our beautiful home,” he said, showing what remained of his property. “Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
Eric Braeden is another soap star who lost their home in the devastating fires. “45 years,” he said while shedding tears during the emotional interview. “I didn’t think it would hit me this much, man.” He went on, detailing the parties he’s thrown and recalling the family memories from the years prior. “It’s such a feeling of loss, man,” Braeden said. “It’s indescribable. It leaves you totally disoriented.”
Jhene Aiko
Singer Jhene Aiko shared a vulnerable clip on her Instagram of what remained of her once beautiful home. “Me and my children’s home is gone, burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy,” she said. She continued: “I worked very hard … for many years, through a lot of pain … to provide my children with this house,” the songwriter wrote. “I put everything into it. Praying none of you ever experience this.”
Later, the Grammy-nominated singer clapped back at fans who told the artist her feelings of devastation were invalid due to her fame. “The fact that some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild,” she wrote. “I don’t got it like that,” she said. “Money can’t buy everything.”
