Stranded Sails looks like a combination between Harvest Moon and The Legend of Zelda, but with a pirate theme. If that sounds awesome then it should come as no surprise that after its initial announcement on Steam it racked up an impressive number of wishlist adds. Now the developer, Lemonbomb Entertainment has teamed up with publisher Merge Games to expand the game’s release to consoles. Check out the announcement trailer below.
As you can see it looks downright charming. Stranded Sails – Explorers of the Cursed Islands is an open-world adventure game. There will be quests and exploration. Gathering, cooking, and crafting. In addition, there will be a building system and some ship construction as well. Apparently, you must manage your crew’s morale by keeping them well feed. Sounds entertaining enough. This is the kind of gameplay that keeps people glued to a screen for a dozen hours at a time. Which is good news for fans of the genre.
Stranded Sails will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in October. The Steam version is marked for a Q4 release. So probably around the same time. There will be both digital and physical version of the game for purchase. And they have even announced a “Signature Edition” exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and Switch. No word on the price point for any of these so far. But seeing as how it’s an indie game I expect it to be priced competitively.
It definitely looks interesting. And it’s easy to see why people are watching Stranded Sails so closely on Steam. People love pirates, and they love open-world games. Agricultural simulators like Stardew Valley and My Time At Portia also remain intensely popular. Honestly, if this game gets decent reviews at release I am sure I will pick up a copy myself.
