Bandai Namco has announced the Soulcalibur VIย world invitational tournament where the best of the bestย Soulcalibur VIย players will fight it out for glory. There will also be prizes, but it’s all about the glory, right?
Due to take place at the HyperX Esports Arena at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, the Soulcaliburย invitational will see the 8 best players fight it out to be crowned the very firstย Soulcaliburย invitational world champion. Initially, 7 players will be invited to take part, however, an 8th competitor will be chosen from a pool of 128 players in a last chance qualifier event that will be held at the same venue, on the same day. Talk about pressure for those people.
According to the press release, the tournament will be one of the most entertaining esports events of the year (they would say that) and will feature hosts who will provide fans with a blow by blow. Several names from the fighting game community will also be in attendance including, Markman, Kitana Prime, Aliciaxlife and Ebonic Plague.

I’m not the biggest fan of fighting games in esports myself. That’s not because I don’t like them, it’s just because the showcased players have a level of skill that I will never be able to match and it makes me a bit miserable watching knowing I’ll never be that good.
Suffice to say, I won’t be invited and will be left at home bowing down to superior skill. I’m also guessing that most of you won’t be invited either. That’s not a slight on your skill, it’s just that 8 people isn’t very many to be chosen from the entire world.
