In the non-stop war between Apple and Android, the company of the red fruit decided to up the ante with a new application. During the annual WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) held in San Francisco, Apple introduced an application that will allow Android users a seamless transition to the iOS software. On the Apple website, the company outlines the details:
“Just download the Move to iOS app to wirelessly switch from your Android device to your new iOS device. It securely transfers your contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, calendars, wallpaper, and DRM-free songs and books. And it will help you rebuild your app library, too. Any free apps you used — like Facebook and Twitter — are suggested for download from the App Store. And your paid apps are added to your iTunes Wish List.”
Apple is not a slouch when it comes to debuting the latest technology. As far as this writer knows, there haven’t been a lot of well-constructed applications that allow a user to switch from one operating system to another. Android has stood with Apple toe-to-toe with every new cycle of phone, beating Apple to the punch in terms of screen size and allowing more user freedom, but sometimes losing in regards to slick interfaces and stronger applications. The introduction of the “Move to iOS” software might help convert those Android owners who are sitting on the fence but do not want to go through the process of a difficult transition.
Personally, I can’t wait to see what the next round will bring between these two giants of the industry.
