In the campaign mode for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, you will always be accompanied by three other Spartans, whether you’re playing solo or co-op.
Revealed in anย article by GameInformer, the Master Chief will be a part of “Blue Team”. This team will be made up of Master Chief, and three other Spatan-II’s: Fred, Linda and Kelly. These characters have been touched upon in the expandedย Halo universe, but this will be the first timeย they appear in a centralย Haloย game. Each character will have a unique loadout that compliments that characters talents.
This isn’t the first timeย Halo has had a four-player team –ย Halo 3ย had this feature in 2007. Player’s one and two would take the role of the Master Chief and the Arbiter respectively, whilst player’s three and four took on the role of Elite’s named N’tho ‘Sraom and Usze ‘Taham. But unlikeย Halo 3, your squad mates inย Guardian’sย will have more of a role in the story and will appear in cut scenes. Moreover, if playing the campaign solo, the player will be able to control their squad mates with basic commands.
Similar toย Halo 2,ย Guardians will have two sides to its campaign. One part will be that of the Master Chief and Blue Team, and the other part will follow Spartan Locke and his newly assembled squad Fireteam Osiris.ย Locke and his crew will supposedly have access to slightly better tech compared to Blue Team.
One last surprise revealed by GameInformer is that fan favourite Edward Buck – seen in Halo 3: ODST and played by Nathan Fillion – will be returning inย Guardians.ย
Sinceย Halo 5 was first revealed at E3 two years ago, details have been very few and far between. Player’s got glimpses of the story inย Halo 2: Anniversary and the live-action seriesย Halo: Nightfall.
Expect more to be revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference later thisย week on June 14 at 9:30AM PDT.
