It’s already October 2019 and with the beginning of the scariest month of the year, there is a new slew of games to keep you occupied. Not all will fit in with the spooky theme of the month but with entries like Luigi’s Mansion 3, you can bet you’ll get your fill of scares this month. But with heavy hitters like the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, you can rest assured that you’ll have plenty to keep you busy this month. Here are a few that are going to be looked at in-depth, however, there will be the full October release schedule at the end of the article.
John Wick: Hex October 8th (PC, Mac)
The amazingly epic series starring the internet’s current darling, Keanu Reeves, is finally getting a video game spin-off. The fast-paced action in the movies will translate to a more XCOM-like strategy game, with turn-based puzzles for combat. Even though Keanu Reeves wasn’t able to reprise his iconic role for the game, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick are coming back in their own movie roles with Troy Baker is bringing his talent for the villainous Hex. John Wick Hex hits the Epic storefront on October 8th, 2019 for both PC and Mac.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition (Switch)
The immensely popular, and Game of the Year 2015 winner for multiple sites, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is finally getting a handheld edition in the form of the Nintendo Switch. Right in time for the Netflix adaptation of the Witcher books, Nintendo is getting the complete edition which will include the amazing DLC follow-ups, Hearts of Stone and the superb Blood and Wine. Nintendo players will be able to sink hundreds of hours into this game as it hits the storefronts on October 15th.
MediEvil (PS4)
The underrated Playstation classic is finally getting a complete remake for current consoles. A Demo of the Hack and Slash classic has hit the Playstation store already, and it seems that this remake has held onto the humor of the 1998 original. Developers have also been able to fix all the problems from the classic title such as the jittery and annoying camera. The developers where also able to add more vibrant colors to the updated graphics. MediEvil drops for the Playstation 4 on October 25th.
The Outer Worlds (Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC October 25)
Developers of Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian, have been hard at work on what appears to be a new brightly colored space adventure series. The Outer Worlds looks to scratch that itch left by Fallout 76 and possibly knock Borderlands off the top of the action-adventure genre mountain. The developers have stated the importance of the RPG mechanics of the game and have stressed how they are going to focus on the importance of player choice affecting the game’s story. The Outer Worlds hits stores on October 25th, 2019 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
