According to VideoGamesChronicle (VGC), the hugely-rumored Bully 2 was scrapped early on in development prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2013. The game was believed to have been worked on upwards of a year, with Rockstar Games exploring the idea of a sequel from as early as 2008.

The game was supposedly developed by Rockstar New England, known for helping out the main Rockstar teams on titles such as Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire. The team was thought to have included Drew Medina (now working at Crystal Dynamics on Marvel’s Avengers), and Steven Olds, who was at the time gradually moved over to other projects within Rockstar. Many developers at Rockstar New England also listed ‘unannounced game’ on their CVs during this time.

According to VGC sources, the game was also playable, with a ‘very small slice’ of a demo built with the RAGE engine. Rockstar even went as far as to outline the story for the game and to cast scenes. Jimmy was thought to return as the main protagonist, with many fan-favorite characters also expected to return. It began in Jimmy’s stepdad’s house during the summer following the end of school. Rockstar was believed to be unsure where to take Jimmy in the sequel, which possibly could have been a factor in scrapping the game.
