Good news for all you gamers longing to revisit The Four Horsemen! THQ Nordic has announced that their next Darksiders title, Darksiders Genesis, will release this December for PC and Google Stadia (with the game releasing to other platforms in February 2020). In this entry, players will control Strife, the final Horseman to join the fray.
Genesis will be a prequel to the first Darksiders game and will feature the first playable version of Strife. While the title is a new entry, the developers want players to know that this is not Darksiders 4. The apocalypse has not happened at this point, so the Horsemen are carrying out their duties as given to them by the council. In the latest trailer for the game, Strife shows that he is laxer and has a sense of humor. Playing differently than his fellow Horsemen, Strife utilizes twin guns to blast his foes into oblivion. Probably the most exciting aspect is that the game will be co-op, with War joining Strife on his quest!
Darksiders Genesis Gameplay
THQ Nordic and Airship Syndicate are revamping the gameplay for Darksiders Genesis. The game will feature a new top-down camera, in the vein of Gauntlet or Diablo. Consequently, this works in tandem with Strife’s dual pistol fighting style, with players using a twin-stick shooter configuration. In addition, War wields his sword, cutting down anybody foolish enough to approach the two on their mission. With both close combat and ranged combat, Strife and War seem to have all their bases covered.
Darksiders Genesis releases on PC and Stadia on December 5th of this year. Sadly, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One owners will have to wait until Valentine’s Day 2020 to get their hands on a copy. Then again, what says “I love you” more than tearing through enemies’ hearts with that special someone? Will you be picking up a copy? What do you think about the new gameplay style?
