Techland has announced that Dying Light 2, the sequel to the 2015 survival-horror title, has been delayed. The announcement comes after a string of high-profile games have been delayed in the past week. Titles including the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Avengers have all recently had their release dates pushed back. What was once a packed out Spring 2020 release window is now looking awfully sparse.

Another One Bites the Dust

In a statement released on Techland’s Twitter account, CEO Parwel Marchewka wrote,

You can read the full statement below.

Dying Light 2 Delayed

As it stands, Techland hasn’t offered a renewed release date for Dying Light 2. The game already has 26 minutes of gameplay available to view, so it’s hopeful that the game will still release sometime in 2020. Techland also announced back in July that the game would be cross-generation. With the new delay, however, it remains to be seen if Dying Light 2 will still release on current-gen platforms as planned.

Are companies feeling the pressure to produce higher quality games? Gamers haven’t been afraid to express their disdain for poor releases as of late. Fallout 76 was one of the most controversial releases of 2018, and as fellow staff writer Taylor Cole noted, Anthem was “regarded by many as one of the most disappointing games of 2019.”

What do you think? Are you happy that companies are taking additional time to perfect their games? Let us know in the comments.
