A new update for PUBG, releasing on February 19, will be bringing new ways to play the game other than Battle Royale.

Nowadays, it’s safe to say that PUBG is not as populated as it was when it launched. Over the last years, Fortnite has successfully managed to grow the number of its community and keep them engaged with the game with seasonal content packs and spectacular support. On the other hand, PUBG didn’t seem to have a particular plan for the future of the game, which resulted in losing a significant amount of its players. Once PUBG used to be the most played game of Steam with nearly 3 million concurrent players, but now the game roughly reaches 1 million players on PC.

However, PUBG Corp. still supports the game by releasing new content every now and then. Next week, Update 6.2 will be bringing Arcade mode to the game, a brand new mode allowing gamers to play PUBG in new ways. Arcade mode will be hosting different popular multiplayer modes in multiplayer games, and the first one is Team Deathmatch, arriving on February 19. In Team Deathmatch, which will be played in small sections of the PUBG’s current maps, two teams of eight will take part in close-quarter combats, and the winner is the one reaching 50 kills first. The winner of the two rounds out of three will be the winner of the match.

Along with the new mode, Update 6.2 rebalances some throwables such as Frag grenades, Molotovs, Smoke grenades, and stun grenades. The explosives mentioned above will weigh more, which makes it impossible to carry a lot of them at the same time in your inventory.

Aside from the multiplayer game, PUBG Corp. is also developing a single-player story-driven experience set in the same universe as PUBG called Prologue. The game is being made at Striking Force studio led by Glen Schofield, former Sledgehammer Games head.
