The new Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is currently available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch for $19.99. Matt Walker, a producer with Capcom’s development team, announced earlier this month that the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition available only on the Nintendo Switch and that the game will offer some special features.
One special feature of this new addition to the Devil May Cry franchise is the ability to switch between combat styles on the fly. Players start with four combat styles and may gain another two as they progress. This feature allows for a fluid and unique combat style and new stylish combos. Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition also offers 9,999 floors of the “Bloody Palace” in survival mode in co-op. The Switch version also offers an entirely new option for players, which is to play the game in handheld mode for portability.
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is a prequel for the series. The prequel takes place long before the original Devil May Cry and focuses on the relationship between Dante and his twin brother, Vergil, who will also be a playable character. The game primarily focuses on Dante, however, and players will get to use his iconic dual pistols Ebony and Ivory, as well as his sword Rebellion. Dante’s goal is to stop Vergil from unlocking a demonic gate and unleashing demons upon the world. The game offers new lore, including information about Dante’s first encounter with the fan-favorite Lady and the origins of Dante’s infamous shop.
This game looks fantastic, and the early live streams and trailers looked terrific. It will be interesting to see if these new features will be available on any new console Devil May Cry games Capcom releases. The Devil May Cry is an iconic franchise, and if the early reviews, 9/10 on Nintendo Life, are to be believed, then Devil May Cry 3 is a solid addition to Capcom’s lineup.
