Today is the day! The first DLC from Control is here, and this time we’re getting a look at a new portion of the Oldest House. The new DLC is called ‘The Foundation,’ and it explores the actual foundation of the Oldest House.

A New DLC To A Fun Game

‘The Foundation’ takes place after the main storyline of Control, which won IGN’s Game of the Year in 2019. The Hiss has largely been eradicated, but there are more for Jesse to defeat in the very foundation of the Bureau’s headquarters. Jesse is now the official director of the Bureau of Control, and as always, she’s at odds with someone, this time it’s the Board.

This new addition to the places to explore within the Oldest House, there are also new powers for Jesse to master. These powers allow players to manipulate special crystals, some of which can be used to create platforms or be used as weapons against the Hiss.

Remedy issued a new patch that was released at the same time as the DLC, although players don’t have to purchase the DLC to get the patch. The patch features upgrades to the map and an all-new ability, Shield Rush. The map updates are meant to make the map easier to read, which is something many players said was a problem with the original map. The new ability, Shield Rush, is essentially an update to two already existing abilities, Rush and Shield. Rush allows players to use psychic force to push themselves forward, and Shield will enable players to use force to make loose debris form a shield around them. Shield Rush is a good use of these two abilities and gives added versatility to combat.

‘The Foundation’ is only the first of two DLCs, and players can purchase both DLCs by purchasing the Season Pass on the EpicStore and the PlayStation Store. This DLC is available March 26, 2020, on PC and PS4, and June 25, 2020, on Xbox One. The second DLC, AWE, is due to come out later in 2020.
