A new trailer forย The Last of Us Part II is coming very, very soon. Developer Naughty Dog took to Twitter this morning to let fans know a new look at the game will arrive tomorrow. The trailer will release on May 6th at 7:00 a.m. PT/ 10:00 a.m. ET/ 3:00 p.m. UK/ 12:00 a.m. on May 7th for AEST. The video accompanying the tweet, which can be viewed below, doesn’t give too much away. It only shows the game’s logo along with Ellie stating, “I have to finish it.” This is followed by Joel’s reply, “There’s a cost.”

Naughty Dog and Sony are likely releasing a new trailer as a final marketing push. Many movies and games have seen delays due to coronavirus. It wouldn’t be surprising if studios cut together new trailers for high profile movies that are now releasing later in the year. But this announcement also comes after a few troublesome months forย The Last of Us Part IIย and Naughty Dog.

Ellie in The Last of Us Part II

The release date forย The Last of Us Part II was originally February 21st, 2020. But Naughty Dog delayed the game until May 29th in order to polish so it matched the studio’s high standards. But during the extra development months, much more problematic issues have arisen. In March, Kotaku released a feature documenting the extreme crunch periods employees have to go through. As the article points out, it’s a system seemingly implemented into Naughty Dog’s DNA. But it has understandably caused many members to leave the team.

In April, Sony delayedย The Last of Us Part II indefinitely due to COVID-19. Less than a month later, spoilers for the game’s story leaked online. Soon after, the game received a new release date of June 19th, 2020. While Sony has since found the leaker, it’s important to take certain precautions when looking at content for the game. The spoilers don’t seem to have impacted sales as The Last of Us Part IIย went gold on May 4th.
