Indie Studio Elden Pixels has just announced their new game Alwa’s Legacy, a sequel to the critically acclaimed Alwa’s Awakening, is launching to both GOG and Steam for $17.99 with a Switch version coming soon.
The sequel’s premise takes place after the events of the previous game that led to the land of Alwa being saved. However, Alway’s Legacy is not a direct sequel to the previous game and should be considered a standalone experience. Zoe, who is the new main character, is now about to embark on her quest to get back home. But, upon waking up, she finds herself in a strange mysterious land that feels disparate but yet familiar. In order to get back home, she will need to help Alwa’s inhabitants and save it from a mysterious curse that it is now under.
Alwa’s Legacy will feature countless dungeons, magical items, and ancient secrets to utilize and uncover. The game will also have a focus on player customization and joyful exploration with levels filled with secrets for players to uncover and puzzles to solve. Full Features to Expect In Alwa’s Legacy:
- Upgrade system to suit several playstyles: Explorative, offensive, or strategic.
- When players explore, they will be rewarded when they find and solve countless secrets and puzzles.
- The game will also be non-linear and have a focus on exploration and different item upgrades to progress throughout the game.
- Alwa’s Legacy will also have a loveable crisp pixel art style that is accompanied by modern effects as well as a soundtrack made by artist RushJet1.

Alwa’s Legacy will mark the studio’s second game after their first, which was notably an homage to classic 8-bit platforming adventures. Their first game also received several positive reviews from the likes of Rock Paper Shotgun, Nintendo World Report, and Nintendo Enthusiast. Players and fans of the first game were so excited by the prospect of a sequel that Alwa’s Legacy was funded on Kickstarter with 924 backers.
Alwa’s Legacy will launch later this month on June 17th to both Steam and GOG with a Switch release coming soon after. For more information on Alwa’s Legacy, join their Discord or visit their official website. To stay updated with the latest news about the game, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
