EA has a substantial library of titles, some of which have gone down as their genre’s best titles. For me, that would definitely have to be Mass Effect 3 with how much of a blast that was to play. One of the things their multi-player titles have been missing though is cross-play. Cross-play is one of the more recent trends in gaming, allowing players on all platforms to play together. EA is now looking to change that with Need for Speed Heat getting cross-play starting tomorrow. Players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One will be able to go head-to-head or evade the cops together across the luscious Palm City.

Need for Speed

Need for Speed Heat brings some of the best that Need for Speed has to offer. It offers fast-paced, adrenaline-filled action as you race across Palm City and evade the police. Customize your car just the way you like it, then jump out and participate in high-stakes races where all that matters is the sweet, sweet finish line. During the day, you’ll want to aggravate the police but during the night, a rogue task force takes to the street that will likely prove a serious challenge for you and your ride. If you think you’re up for the task, the game is available for $30 or through Origin Access Premier for $20 a month. It will also be available on Origin Access Basic and EA Access starting June 16th.

That’s not all the Need for Speed news today. The series has also been fully taken over by Criterion following the release of Need for Speed Heat. With this, they’re in development of the next Need for Speed title and ending development of Need for Speed Heat. General Manager at Criterion, Matt Webster, says that they’re excited to be “back in the driver’s seat” of the franchise. He promises great things for the future of Need for Speed, and honestly, I can’t say I doubt him. Need for Speed Heat is a great racing game that really innovates on the Need for Speed franchise, so I can see their future being very bright.

Need for Speed

We want to hear your thoughts though. Will you be jumping into Need for Speed Heat with cross-play? What do you think of Need for Speed as a whole? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
