Have you ever wanted to be the Devil himself? If your answer is no, that’s understandable. After seeing Rogue Lords though, your opinion may change. During this weekend’s PC Gaming Show, developers Cyanide and Leikir Studio showed off gameplay of their new tactical roguelike game. It’s set in a 17th-century dystopia known simply as The New World and follows the Devil on his quest to redeem his former glory. The developers took to their Twitter accounts to promote the game, and you can find the new trailer below.

Rogue Lords is a game ultimately about choices. You have a lot at your disposal, with a whole host of disciples ready to serve you. There are well-known evildoers like Dracula, Bloody Mary, and many more. You’ll build a group of heroes that suit your playstyle, then descend upon your opponents to wreak havoc. In Rogue Lords, there truly is such a thing as too much good in the world. Be careful though as if your disciples become vulnerable, you’ll be the one to get hurt. If you lose all health, you’ll have to start all over.

Overall, the game proves to be a challenging tactics experience, with no two runs ever being the same. Will your team cause a lot of havoc, or will they fall like every other time? The choice will be up to you. Rogue Lords, from the pre-alpha footage shown, looks to deliver on all of this. It takes a few notes from other tactics roguelikes such as Darkest Dungeon, but its setting should help it to forge its own identity. If done right, this game could belong in the hearts of many.

Rogue Lords

We’ll have to wait and see how that pans out. Rogue Lords releases on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2021. What are your initial impressions of the game? Any other tactics roguelikes you’re a fan of? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
