The highly-anticipated crossover fighter is still in production. This is according to the Tekken X Street Fighterโ€™s producer, Katsuhiro Harada. He reassured fans that the game is not canceled in an interview with Famitsu (translated via Siliconera). Harada responded with, โ€œthat’s not true,โ€ when being asked about the gameโ€™s cancelation, and then went into further detail about the gameโ€™s production.

He added, โ€œI’ve been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we’re at a pretty far stage into its development.”

Apparently, the character models are already done, and the moves and gameplay are set.

โ€œIt might seem like we haven’t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago,” he said. “And we’ve already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems.”

While Harada did not state a reason for the delay, it could be due to the fact that he is also working on Tekken 7, Pokken Tournament, and a Project Morpheus game.

Tekken X Street Fighter was first announced five years ago at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Since then, developer Bandai Namco revealed Tekken 7 for 2015, and publisher Capcom revealed its newest addition to the Street Fighter series, Street Fighter V for 2016.ย

It does not seem likely that Tekken X Street Fighter will hit those release windows, but knowing the game is โ€œpretty far into developmentโ€ gives reason to be optimistic.

Harada also did not give specific details about any new features, but he stated, โ€œI canโ€™t really say how weโ€™re aiming to surprise fans right now, but weโ€™ve been playing around with many different ideas.โ€
