Many of you will disagree with me, but personally, I hated the 2019 remake of Child’s Play. I hate that film with a passion. There are many out there who loved the modern take on the franchise; I just found it to be uninspiring and dull.
I missed the classic backstory, the brilliant Brad Dourif, and just about everything that came before. In fact, due to the new origin story and the way Chucky was treated, I actively wanted him to win and have everyone else in the movie murdered. The only saving grace was Mark Hamill’s voice, something that will never let anyone down.
I’m happy if you do disagree with me, though. After all, our own tastes are subjective, and you may very well (likely) hate some things that I love.
What I’m even happier about is the fact that classic Child’s Play and classic Chucky will soon be back on our screens.
Back in February 2018, a new TV series entitled Chucky was announced as a continuation of the story from the previous movies. Brad Dourif was said to return throughout ten episodes, and everyone was happy.
There hasn’t been much information since last year, though, a fact that’s soon about to change.
In an Instagram post, series creator Don Mancini posted an image that simply states, “Chucky did it” with text underneath promising we will find out what it is tomorrow.
It’s not much to go on at present, but tomorrow is another day. Here’s hoping that Child’s Play can follow the example of Evil Dead and bring a beloved horror franchise to life in a fantastic way on TV.
Hopefully, we’ll be told an official release date tomorrow, and I can’t wait. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the Child’s Play franchise in the comments, I’m keen to hear, even if all you want to do is troll me about Seed.
