New on AMC, a sci-fi series set in a parallel present where “The Singularity” (the moment when machine surpasses and no longer requires human assistance) is occurring. Anita, the seemingly harmless synthetic of the Hawkins family, is among a select few synthetics who are modified to feel, think, contemplate, desire and more. Creepy, right?
But matters are not as straight forward as one may think. Anita is not just a diabolical robot biding her time. Nor does the show make the morals so black and white as synthetic = evil, human = good. From what we’ve seen so far, despite the quiet terror she instills in certain characters, viewers may be forced to see Anita not as of a class of abominations, but an individual all her own.
So chances are you’ve missed/ failed to record/ haven’t bothered to watch Humans. As your personal TV guru, I say you really ought to. For a summer premiere that’s already seen competition against the Women’s World Cup and the July 4th weekend, viewership has remained strong with over a million viewers each episode, and the plot just keeps getting stronger as well.

Stay tuned this weekend after Humans episode 4 airs on Sunday at 9:00pm ET/PT on AMC, when we’ll review the first four episodes as one. (It’s hard to accurately review a pilot or its following episodes independent of each other, after all.) For now, as episode 4 steps closer with its eerily-symmetrical gait, check out the new sneak peek trailers:
