Today sees the first release in the Just Cause 3 dev diary series. The first video from Avalanche Studios offers insight into who Rico Rodriguez is, what skills and abilities he is bringing to the table in his third outing, and how the team have brought him to life.

“He’s gotten older,” explains Game Director Roland Lesterlin in the video, “he’s got his scars from his years in Panau and San Esperito. We wanted to give him that background. What would it be like if you set off a nuke? Twice?”

The video also touches upon the wingsuit and how Rico’s grappling hook can be used while gliding in the air. Those are just two of the items in Rico’s arsenal for his third outing .

Just Cause 3 is set in the sun-drenched Mediterranean island republic of Medici, a land crumbling under the ruthless rule of General Di Ravello. Players will take control of series’ hero Rico Rodriguez, a man on a mission to liberate his homeland and the people of Medici by any means necessary. With over 400 square miles of complete freedom from sky to seabed and a huge arsenal of weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, prepare to unleash chaos in the most creative and explosive ways you can imagine.

Just Cause 3 launches on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on December 1.
