SUPERHOT was one of those games that came out of nowhere and was suddenly the talking point for a lot of gamers. It wasn’t even a full game, but a prototype spawned from a game jam that sprawled once a number of YouTubers got a chance to play it.

One Kickstarter campaign and $250,000 later and we now have the first beta gameplay footage from the all new version of SUPERHOT. Check out the video below.

For those that don’t know, SUPERHOT is a first person shooter whose unique mechanic is that time only moves when you do. So if you find yourself cornered by 15 guys with guns and you’re armed with nothing but a wine glass, it gives you time to think of a strategy. It is one of the few truly unique mechanics to shake up FPS’, an overly saturated genre that receives at most only minor improvements and innovations with each new game.

Besides the core gameplay mechanic, there’s actually very little else that we know about SUPERHOT. There is no word on what the story will be or if there will actually be one at all. And there is no word on what game modes will be available or if there will be any multiplayer options. That said, how exactly you would incorporate SUPERHOT‘s core mechanic into a multiplayer mode is anyone’s guess.

Then again its good to keep in mind that despite all the hype surrounding the game, SUPERHOT is still an indie game being developed by just 10 people. But these 10 people have managed to create something truly unique and exciting, and I’m definitely looking forward to playing it. Although the original prototype was a PC only affair, the full game is expected to be released on PC, Mac, Linux and the Xbox One.

SUPERHOT is scheduled for global release in Q4 2015. Check out their Official Website for more details.
