As this hectic year winds down, we might need something bright and happy to cheer us up during these cold holiday nights. Publisher 505 Games and developer Digital Continue has just released the perfect platforming game for such times. Drawn to Life: Two Realms is out now on Switch, Steam, and mobile devices. For a limited time, Switch and Steam users can get the game at a 20 percent discount. Also, long-time fans can grab the game’s “snappy” soundtrack on Steam for just $2.99.

Drawn to Life: Two Realms Features

Drawn to Life: Two Realms OUT NOW! [ESRB]

A fan-favorite since the good ‘ol Nintendo DS days, Drawn to Life is a puzzle platforming series with a unique artistic twist. Players are allowed to customize their characters using stickers and drawing tools. That’s right, you get to create your own pixel hero. You can make your character look like you or make them look like they’re a lost Lovecraftian creature. It’s your world. It’s your hero.

Drawn to Life: Two Realms takes place several years after the Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter installment. The hero reconnects with Mari, Jowee, and other returning characters as they attempt to solve the mystery of the shadow. Throughout the adventure, you will be traveling between the Raposa and Human realms, taking part in 100 Imagination Battles, and interacting with over 70 Human and Raposa NPCs. The platforming also has a unique mechanic, requiring you to utilize stickers in clever ways to navigate through the environments successfully.

In-game, there are “millions of colors and dozens of unique stickers” to unlock. This results in “endless hours” of customization. In Drawn to Life: Two Realms, you can personalize to your heart’s content. According to the developers, post-launch content, which includes new items and levels, will be released in the future.

Made By The Original Developers

Drawn to Life: Two Realms Launches Today - platformer

Many of the original Drawn to Life developers returned to create this newest installment. More than 50 tracks are from the original franchise composer. Meanwhile, the environments are drawn to life (yes, I said it) by the original sprite artist. In terms of the continued story, it is presented by the original executive producer of Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter.

Neil Ralley, president of 505 Games, writes:

Bringing the beloved Drawn to Life franchise back is a monumental moment, not just for us but for the dedicated fanbase that’s been waiting years for a new sequel… Drawn to Life: Two Realms builds upon the original by expanding existing lore and innovating the gameplay that made the original titles so special. We can’t wait to see fans, new and old, experience the magic and imagination that Drawn to Life: Two Realms inspires.”

As a kid, I remember playing Drawn to Life on the DS and being blown away by its unique customization features. What’s your history with this innovative series? What do you like the most about the newest installment? Let me know in the comments!
