Published by THQ Nordic and developed by Experiment 101, the long-awaited Biomutant finally has a release date. Originally announced back in 2017, fans were just about ready to move on until an announcement on Twitter confirmed the release date for this May.
Biomutant is an “open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG” that promises a unique combat system. The player can choose between kung-fu inspired melee, blasters and mutated abilities. The story is as follows, “A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided. Explore a world in turmoil and define its fate – will you be its saviour or lead it to an even darker destiny?”
In addition to the base unit of Biomutant, there are two special editions available: Collector’s and Atomic. Priced at $399.99, The Atomic Edition comes with the game, diorama, steelbook, t-shirt, mousepad, soundtrack, fabric artwork, and a premium box. The Collector’s Edition includes the game, soundtrack, fabric artwork, and a figurine of the hero, priced at $119.99. However, PC versions are going to be a few dollars cheaper.
THQ Nordic announced that Biomutant is set to release on May 25th, 2021 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Preorders for all editions are available now, but, as of this writing, there is no word on next-gen versions.
