Iron Gates’ Valheim continues to go from strength to strength. After surging past the one million sales mark after only a week into early access then jumping to two million last week, the breakout survival sim has set another batch of records in the past few days. First up, Friday saw Valheim hit the three million sales milestone. Sticking to representing these impressive numbers in a more digestible form, Iron Gates says there are now enough Valheim owners to fill 74,319 longhouses.
The developer also provided some key metrics highlighting just how well its freshman effort is going in a Steam post celebrating the milestone.
- Over 60,000 ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews
- Officially entered the Steam’s Top 250 best-reviewed games of all time (we’re 78th and climbing!)
- Currently, 7th most streamed game on twitch, surpassing CS:GO, Dota 2, Minecraft, and Rust
- Over 20 million hours of gameplay already watched – now help us find a Viking reference for this one!
Valheim Hits 484,638 Concurrent Players
Yesterday saw Valheim break yet another record, this time the all-time peak concurrent player count. According to Steam stats compiled by Valve, a staggering 484,638 players simultaneously sampled the game’s unique slant on the tried and tested craft-survival formula.
As of writing, Valheim’s player count sits at a cool 417,000 on Steam, only edged out for the top current player count by perennial heavy-hitters Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, both games with cemented reputations, entrenched communities, and competitive scenes dating back years. Not too shabby for a game three weeks into its release and still in early access.
