Kena: Bridge of Spirits finally has a release date. A new State of Play always calls for excitement with fantastic reveal trailers and updates on upcoming PlayStation titles. Among the games shown during Wednesday’s showcase, which included new looks at Deathloop and Oddworld: Soulstorm, was the gorgeous, action-adventure game Kena: Bridge of Spirits. And Sony fans can pick it up on August 24, 2021, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. PC players can also pick up the game on the same day via the Epic Games Store.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits first debuted during a showcase for the PS5 last June. Although developer Ember Lab planned to release it last year, COVID-19 forced the team to delay it to Q1 2021. Today’s State of Play offered the first definitive release date. But we also got more gameplay and story within the trailer, which you can check out below:

Before the State of Play showcase, Ember Lab released additional information in regards to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The standard edition of the game will cost $39.99. There will also be a Deluxe Digital Edition available for $49.99. This comes with the game’s soundtrack, an in-game silver staff, and golden Rot skin exclusives. The Rot are the adorable black spirits that will aid Kena on her adventure. Whichever edition you purchase through PlayStation, you’ll have access to it on PS4 and PS5. Josh Grier, COO of Ember Lab, had this to say:
We’re taking the next few months to further polish and optimize for the best possible game. It’s been quite an experience completing our first title during the pandemic. We are super excited to reveal the latest trailer and announce the launch date.”
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the first game developed by Ember Lab. The studio has previously worked on several animated commercials, shorts, and an incredible Majora’s Mask fan film. Did you enjoy the trailer for Kena shown at the State of Play? Let us know in the comments below!
