No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games lesser-known puzzle-platformer, The Last Campfire, received an unexpected update today. The update, dubbed 1.6, introduces not just your run-of-the-mill quality of life and performance improvements but brand new content.

Unlike No Man’s Sky, the three-person developed The Last Campfire is very much seen as the finished product. But, with the new update, Hello Games hopes to roll out some of the most fan-requested features and apply a final lick of polish before moving on from the project.

The latest The Last Campfire update is being pushed out to PC via the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox One, and mobile on Apple Arcade today. Included are 20% more puzzles for players to sink their teeth into alongside a new feature that allows any of The Last Campfire‘s puzzles to be replayed on-demand. Hello Games hasn’t stopped there, though, rolling out a slew of gameplay tweaks, such as higher frame rates and improved controller support. There are also performance improvements heading to all platforms.

  • 20% more puzzles
  • The ability to replay any of the puzzles at any time
  • Allow players to Read the Wanderer’s Diary
  • Multiple performance improvements across all platforms
  • Improved controller support
  • New Mac support
  • Higher framerate
  • Lots of quality-of-life improvements

Hello Games has also pieced together a new accolades trailer to mark the occasion, which showcases the kind words ascribed by the gaming press to The Last Campfire since the game launched to critical acclaim back in August last year. Here it is just below.

The Last Campfire Accolades Trailer

If you’ve yet to investigate The Last Campfire, there’s never been a better time. Here’s a brief description of what’s waiting for new players.

“The Last Campfire is an adventure, a story of a lost Ember trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home. Together you will discover a beautiful wilderness filled with lost folks, strange creatures and mysterious ruins.”
