Resident Evil Village fans have been anticipating the latest Resident Evil showcase from Capcom and it did not disappoint. The event kicked off with a brand new trailer for Resident Evil Village revealing that the name of the previously seen bearded man is Heisenberg. Fan-favorite Chris Redfield appears in the trailer but Capcom has not revealed his role in the game. The trailer also gave fans a look at the different environments they’ll be visiting during Resident Evil Village. The two environments shown in the trailer include an underground factory and what Capcom describes as “a vast man-made lake barely concealing what appears to be a colossal aquatic monster,” according to a press release.
Like other games in the series, Resident Evil Village will also feature The Mercenaries mode. The mode aims to add replayability and variety to the game and can only be unlocked by finishing the campaign. In this mode, players will have to complete challenges that become more difficult as they progress. In between objectives, players will be able to purchase upgrades and weapons from the campaign’s Duke merchant. According to Capcom, “It will be up to each player to strategize which loadout will be the most effective for each objective.”
The Resident Evil showcase also revealed when players can expect to play the next Resident Evil Village demo. Starting May 1, the 60-minute demo will be playable for only 24 hours on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam. On April 17 and April 24, PlayStation players will have 8 hours of early access to the demo. A pre-load option for early access will become available after 5 pm PT on April 15.
A new trailer for the upcoming Netflix series Resident Evil:Infinite Darkness was also shown along with a confirmation that the upcoming live-action movie has finished filming. The most surprising announcement of the stream was that Resident Evil 4 would be releasing as a VR game for the Oculus Quest 2.
