I love free things, I think we all do.
I also really love free games, especially incredibly good games for that matter, well this month Games with Gold gives away some truly great titles.
You could argue that point, but I feel that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is worth the asking price I pay on a monthly basis, The Deer God on the other hand I haven’t heard of, but that’s okay, why you ask? Because its free thats why, guilt free pleasure you can experiment with and if it’s not to your liking then you’ve not lost out.
I’m still buzzing on The Rocket League hype nearly two months after its free PS Plus release.
That was free and arguably a huge success story for the company as it’s one of the most streamed games of the minute and incredibly addictive.
But enough about PlayStation, this is Microsoft’s story.
So The Deer God will be available to download from September 1st – 30th
Steams synopsis of the game gives some basic details away.
The Deer God is a breathtaking 3D pixel art adventure that will challenge your religion and your platforming skills. It’s a game about survival, reincarnation, and karma; all set in a breathtaking and unique 3D pixelized world.
It earned a modest 58/100 on MetaCritic. It does look very pretty at that though.
Then we get to the Winner of the month for me Tomb Raider Definitive Edition which will be available from September 16th – October 15th. Got to give The Deer God a chance to get some downloads in I suppose.
This game was a huge critical success and a breath of fresh air for this Franchise that had been getting worse with time, and right in time before the release of The Rise of The Tomb Raider on November 11th.
Relive Lara’s story one more time, you won’t regret it.
I might even plug my Xbox One in again just to download it, and that’s saying something.
For Xbox 360 we also have some quality titles.
From September 1st – 15th you’ll be able to download Battlestations: Pacific. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to fly some of the most decisive battles in naval history? I haven’t but now I can. A historically accurate U.S campaign puts players on command of the U.S Navy’s Pacific Fleet through the battles of Guadalcanal and on to Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Victory or you could just be the Japanese fleet and rewrite history? Why not hey, it’s a video game.
Then we get on to Crysis 3 available to download from September 16th – September 30th.
The sad story with Crysis is that with each game they gradually get more boring, its safe to say its fun as anything running around as a super powered human by the name of Prophet, and my God was it pretty but nothing will change my opinion on the first game, especially when I played the whole thing in 3D on my TV and it blew my mind, as well as PC’s up back in the day.
Continue the story of Prophet as he returns to New York only to realise that it’s been encased in a giant dome constructed by the evil Cell Corporation. Finish the story. hunt or be hunted.
Thats that Ladies and Gentlemen, the golden games for the month of September.
Enjoy.
