Those playing Metal Gear Solid V should prepare themselvesย for some not so good news. Just recently,ย Konami has issued a warning to players regarding a major bug that could corrupt save files.

In order to avoid this potential bug, Konami recommends not using Quiet as a buddyย during missions 29 and 42. The bug is affecting all platforms, and a Konami community manager says on Twitter that the company is currently working to determine the cause, after which it can develop a fix. ย Hereโ€™s Konamiโ€™s full warning:

In โ€œMETAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAINโ€ which was released on September 1st 2015, there is a possibility that save data may get corrupted and becomes unusable if having Quiet as a buddy while playing โ€œ Mission 29โ€ณ or โ€œMission 42โ€ณ. This situation can be avoided by not using Quiet as a buddy while playing either โ€œMission 29โ€ณ or โ€œMission 42โ€ณ

“We deeply apologize, and appreciate your patience for further announcements regarding this issue,” Konami said.

Itโ€™s not the first technical problem that Konami has run into with Metal Gear Solid V. The company struggled with server connection issues in the days before launch, eventually disabling some features in order to get online play moving forward. Comparatively, these issues are frustrating but not nearly as detrimental asย having your save wiped out.

The Phantom Pain will continue to grow next month in the area of multiplayer, as that’s when Konami plans to release the game’s more traditional, head-to-head multiplayer mode, Metal Gear Online for consoles. This multiplayer offering is coming in January 2016 for PC. Stay tuned for details!
