Mayim Bialik and Mike Richards will be splitting duties as Richards will be tasked with hosting the 38th season of Jeopardy!, while Bialik will be part of the new spin-offs and special events like their Jeopardy! National College Championship show. The change comes after a year of searching for someone to replace Alex Trebek who passed away in November of 2020 due to stage 4 pancreatic cancer, he was 80 years of age. Trebek had been host for nearly 40 years.
Who Are Mayim Bialik and Mike Richards?
Bialik is best known for her role in her role as Amy Farrah Fowler in the popular CBS show The Big Bang Theory, but she is also a neuroscientist, an author, and a director in her own right. She is also the star of Call Me Kat, a Fox show where she plays the titular character. The show just wrapped its first season and was renewed for a second season in March of 2021. Richards used to be a producer for Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Eventually, he was one of the hosts that the show tried out, along with Bialik, to see who would take over for Trebek. Both Bialik and Richards beat out other hosts that include the likes of Lavar Burton, Aaron Rodgers, and past champion Ken Jennings. Season 38 of Jeopardy! is set to premiere on September 13, 2021, on ABC.
