This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information.

After a few years, it seems that director Paul W.S. Anderson is finally going to finish his Resident Evil film series. Set to release in January 2017 this will mark the last of the live action Resident Evil movies to be released, which you can probably see as a good thing. Given the  poor reception of the previous two installments of the series had received, it would be doubtful if we are to get another live action version of this beloved game series anytime soon.  Recently  the full cast  has been released to the public, which include series staples Milla Jovavich as Alice, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker, and Ali Larter returning as Claire Redfield. Noticeably absent are both Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine who apparently have dropped off the face of the planet. Along with the cast we have also received a synopsis of the final film’s story, as shown below:

“Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”

It is nice to see that the globe trotting has died down for this movie, I am still wary on the final product. The Resident Evil films have notoriously strayed far from the source material, with movies that usually contain way more style than substance. Yet, I cannot still be a little excited to see more Lickers, Wesker, and zombies on screen. What do you guys think of the newest Resident Evil? Does it sound like a possible redemption for the series or has it been too far tainted? If you could have anyone direct a Resident Evil movie who would it be? Sound off below!
