After a minor leak from Microsoft surfaced a few days ago, the Halo Infinite release date for Xbox and PC may or may not have been revealed.
Up until a few days ago, the Microsoft Store had a generic release date set for Halo Infinite, but it was recently changed to December 8, 2021. A report from The Verge claims that an anonymous source has confirmed that this release date is accurate, and the full reveal was planned for Gamescom on Wednesday.
Halo Infinite was originally set to launch alongside the Xbox Series consoles in November 2020. However, a poorly-received gameplay trailer released last summer caused a frenzy amongst fans, and 343 Industries decided to delay the game to address fan’s concerns.
What is to be Halo’s sixth chapter, Halo Infinite will not only put players in Master Chief’s armor, but it will also address Cortana’s fate. “When all hope is lost and humanity’s fate hangs in the balance, the Master Chief is ready to confront the most ruthless foe he’s ever faced. Begin anew and step inside the armor of humanity’s greatest hero to experience an epic adventure and finally explore the scale of the Halo ring itself.”
If the reports are to be believed, the Halo Infinite release date is set for December 8, 2021 on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One. Xbox has promised players that it will also be available via Game Pass on release day.
Gamescom 2021 has already begun and will run through Friday, August 27. The full schedule is available here, and there are plenty of platforms to watch them on.
