This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

OG Travelers of Genshin Impact will likely recall the days of diving into the lakes and rivers of Teyvat, primitively snatching fish from the water bare-handed. Gone are those unspoken times, thanks to 2.1’s update, and fishing has further expanded with the introduction of Fontaine. While we can get closer than ever to aquatic life via the underwater exploration mechanic of this region, reeling in specific species still mandates the traditional fishing rod and bait in Genshin Impact. That said, there are currently seven types of lures as of Version 4.1.

First, let’s cover how you get each of the seven bait recipes in Genshin Impact. The first type, Fruit Paste Bait, is given to you organically during the World Quest that unlocks fishing — ” Exploding Population.” If you’re a new Traveler of Teyvat, note that you’ll receive this quest after gaining access to the Serenitea Pot.

Redrot Bait, False Worm Bait, & Fake Fly Bait of Mondstadt

The crafting recipes for Redrot Bait, False Worm Bait, and Fake Fly Bait in Genshin Impact are all obtained from Nantuck of the Fishing Association. This NPC can be found outside the eastern gates of the City of Mondstadt. You’ll need 3× Medaka to buy each of the Bait Formulas, totaling 9× Medaka.

For those new to fishing, Medaka is a very common fish that can be found in Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru. It can be caught with the starter Fruit Paste Bait.

Sugardew Bait of Sumeru

Next, Sugardew Bait is a Genshin Impact lure procured from Loumelat of Sumeru’s Fishing Association. She can be found fishing on the west side of the river, north of Port Ormos. 3× Medaka is also the price of her bait formula.

Sour Bait and Flashing Maintenance Mek Bait of Fontaine

To catch fish exclusive to Fontaine, you’ll need the recipes for Sour Bait and Flashing Maintenance Mek Bait. The Bait Formulas for these two are purchased with Medaka from Fontaine Angler Delaroche. She sits atop a chunk of a crumbled bridge northeast of the Court of Fontaine. The nearest fast-travel point is the underwater Waypoint in the Thlatta Submarine Canyon.

All Bait Recipes in Genshin Impact 4.1

Once you have procured the recipes for crafting Bait in Genshin Impact, you’ll need to visit an Alchemist’s Crafting Bench with the proper materials. Check out the table below for details:
