On the Capcom Unity blog, Peter “Combofiend” Rosas has announced dates and details for the next Street Fighter V beta test. He reiterates that these beta tests are going to be filled with connectivity issues and bugs, as that is the purpose of running beta tests. The next beta for Street Fighter V will take place October 22nd through October 25th. This beta will have some feature some serious changes from the last, such as:

  • PC Play: This beta will open up the doors to those who have preordered Street Fighter V on Steam. PC gamers will not have the full time to access the beta, as it will only be open from the 24th to the 25th for them. However, this also will allow Capcom to test one of the big calling cards for Street Fighter V, which is…
  • Cross-Platform Play: Once the beta opens to PC gamers, you will be able to matchmake between the PC and PS4 seamlessly (in theory, at least, since this is a beta). One of Capcom’s big pushes for Street Fighter V seems to be keeping the player base from splintering between systems, as happened with Street Fighter IV. Cross-platform play will be a huge aspect of uniting the player base.
  • Different Playable Characters: Players will have access to completely different characters in this beta test than in the first, as series staples such as Ryu and M. Bison will be on the sidelines. In the upcoming beta, four fighters will be available on day one: Ken, Necalli, Vega, and Rainbow Mika. On October 23rd, series newcomer Rashid will be added. On October 24th, fan favorite Karin will join the fray, bringing the total characters for the beta up to six.
Karin and Rashid are coming to the next beta, just a few days behind everyone else.

Combofiend announced a few other details, such as searching for specific players, a test of the “fight money” unlock system, and ranked matchmaking with leaderboards. Check out his post for the full details. Beta access is gained by preordering the game from Steam (on PC) or from select retailers (on PS4). Dust off those fight sticks, circle the 22nd on your calendars, and get ready to throw some Hadoukens.

Excited for some more Street Fighter V fisticuffs? Which characters are you looking forward most to playing as? Let us know in the comments!
