The upcoming first-person survival horror game Allison Road will no longer be crowd funded. On the most recent update to the game’s Kickstarter page, Allison Road developers Lilith Ltd. announced that they will be stopping the crowdfunding campaign after raising the equivalent of $224,000 towards the development of the game. Their reason for stopping the Kickstarter campaign is that they have secured a publisher for Allison Road: Team17.

Team17 is most well known for their Worms franchise, but they also run an independent games label. Some of the games that have been published through Team17 are Schrodinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark, Sheltered, and The Escapists. According to Lilith Ltd.’s post, the main reason for the switch from crowdfunded to a studio is this: “Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25-year-old studio can give.”

Allison Road is somewhat of a spiritual successor to P.T., the playable teaser for the now-cancelled Silent Hills. In it, players will explore their house and try to solve the mystery of their missing memories. Quickly, the player realizes that something horrible has happened in their home and they must discover exactly what it is. Very little is known about Allison Road, as the mystery and intrigue looks like it will play a big part of the horror. Expect this one to have lots of “I’m playing this game and screaming in terror” videos to come from Allison Road. It is scheduled for release sometime in 2016. Glad the game got out of Kickstarter and into the hands of an experienced publisher? Or will you miss being able to have your voice heard as easily through the game’s development? Let us know.
