The box office appears to be alive and well as Spider-Man: No Way Home is already breaking some records. According to Deadline, Sony’s latest Spider-Man film “in its first day of pre-sales yesterday on Fandango already beat that of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Ticket sales began on November 29 around midnight and websites like AMC and Fandango already began to crash as moviegoers flooded the websites trying to get their hands on opening day tickets.

No Way Home is easily one of the most anticipated movies of all time, with many looking forward to seeing Tom Holland’s next adventure as Spider-Man. What is making people so curious and antsy are all the fan theories and rumors. We do have confirmation that villains from other movies such as Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx) are going to return as they jump through the multiverse. However, everyone is still wondering whether Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are going to show up, no matter how much they deny it.

The pre-sales for No Way Home stripped another Marvel Studios project, Black Widow, of the 2021 pre-sales record in two hours, showing the incredible demand for this film. In addition, No Way Home has also beat pre-sales numbers for pre-pandemic blockbusters such as Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home promises to wrap a bow around 20 years of live-action Spider-Man movies, and anticipation is through the roof with fans anxious to see how Tom Holland’s Homecoming trilogy concludes,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “The most anticipated film of the season promises to deliver surprises on every level and December 17 can’t come soon enough.”

Avengers: Endgame still holds the record for highest domestic opening with $357.1 million, so No Way Home still has ways to go to achieve that crazy number. Spider-Man: Far From Home grossed a total of $1.3 billion worldwide, setting a new record for Sony. It’s unclear if No Way Home can match that but the pre-sales so far is a great start and No Way Home is still on pace to have the best weekend for any film post-pandemic. We will see just how much money No Way Home grosses in its opening weekend on December 17.
