James Gunn’s series Peacemaker has been renewed for Season 2. The HBO Max DC series stars John Cena as the often crass government assassin Chris Smith/Peacemaker. Smith gets teams up with other agents on a mission to save the world from an alien invasion. The series is a Suicide Squad spin-off. Not David Ayer’s 2016 catastrophe Suicide Squad, but James Gunn’s 2021 Suicide Squad. John Cena for the role. The HBO Max DC series has even surpassed Wonder Woman with its Rotten Tomatoes score. Gunn remarked on the series following the renewal of Peacemaker Season 2, saying, “Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max.” James Gunn wrote all the episodes for Season 1 and will do the same for Season 2.
John Cena Has Been Getting Many Warner Bros. Projects Thrown His Way
Not only has Peacemaker been renewed for Season 2, but John Cena will also star in the Warner Bros. movie Coyote vs. Acme. Since his initial 2021 Suicide Squad appearance, Warner Bros. can’t get enough of the action star. He brings a little action, lots of violence, and comedy to his role as Peacemaker. Only the CG animation hybrid film Coyote vs. Acme will be a more family-friendly project. He seems to have found his rhythm with these Warner Bros. projects, and fans look forward to what other shenanigans will happen in Season 2 of Peacemaker. James Gunn seems to know what audiences want, and John Cena fits this particular role perfectly. Gunn will continue to tell Smith’s story with Season 2 of the HBO Max DC series Peacemaker.
Peacemaker is the first original DC series for the streaming service. Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Chukwudi Iwuji, Danielle Brooks starred alongside John Cena in Season 1 of the series, but there is no word whether or not they are returning for Season 2.
