It has been announced that a live-action TV series based on the hugely popular ancient-mythology action-adventure franchise, God of War, is currently in development for Amazon Prime Video. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the creators/executive producers of The Expanse TV series and The Wheel of Time executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins as well as Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, are set to collaborate on the God of War TV series.

God of War will join The Last of Usย andย Twisted Metal as the latest PlayStation titles to receive a live-action TV series. The series is said to arrive on HBO and Peacock, respectively.
The God of War franchise is a long-running PlayStation exclusive that focuses on Kratos, an ex-Spartan who wages war against the Greek gods. Following the conclusion of the original trilogy, however, Kratos started a new life in Scandanavia where he encounters a new set of Norse gods, all while raising his son, Aterus. It is not known at this time which storyline of games the God of War TV series will follow, though it likely will be a long-running series.
The franchise spans a total of seven games across four PlayStation consoles. The action game series launched in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, with the first God of War, with the latest available on the PlayStation 4, and debuted in 2018. The installment has since received a slew of honors and critical acclaim, including winning Game of The Year at the 2018 Game Awards.
The eighth installment in the God of War series, God of War: Ragnorok,ย is currently in the works for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and is set to drop sometime in 2022. The sequel will continue the story of the Norse Saga focused on Kratos and son and seemingly serve as a conclusion to their story set up in the 2018 God of War.
