The delays have come to an end as HBO has set a premiere date for House of the Dragon. The Game of Thrones prequel series based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood will premiere on August 21. The HBO prequel series will take place 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones and focuses on the Targaryens. It will star Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Fabien Frankel, and more. It’s been three years since Game of Thrones ended. Here is a reminder of the actors that were part of the Targaryen clan. Harry Lloyd played Viserys Targaryen, brother to megalomaniac Daenerys Targaryen played Emilia Clarke. Kit Harrington played Jon Snow, the nephew and lover of Daenerys and son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. At least Game of Thrones fans has a definite premiere date for the HBO prequel series House of the Dragon.

Will the Game of Thrones Prequel Cause as Big a Stir as its Predecessor?

The HBO "Game of Thrones" prequel series set its premiere date for August 21.

The Game of Thrones prequel series production started in 2021, co-created by Martin and Condal. Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal are showrunners for House of the Dragon which will premiere in less than five months. If you were one of the millions of viewers for the season finale of Game of Thrones, you might know the last season got less than stellar reviews. The franchise took television and pop culture by storm, but the flames subsided with what fans have said were poorly executed storylines in the last season. The residual bitterness of how the last season of Game of Thrones ended could hamper viewership for the HBO prequel series. The same people responsible for Game of Thrones are also responsible for the prequel series, which could be good or bad. Either way House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO this summer.
