This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Gestures have been a staple of FromSoftware’s Soulsborne series of games since their inception. While there are many fan-favorite ones, there are also certain gestures that can be used to solve certain puzzles or access certain areas. One such gesture in Elden Ring is known as Erudition, and unlocking it requires players to complete one of the game’s many sidequests. This guide will show players where and how to get the Erudition Gesture in the Elden Ring.

Where to Find Erudition Gesture in Elden Ring

The Erudition gesture is a reward for completing the questline for the NPC Thops, who you can meet in the Church of Irith just behind Stormveil Castle. The quest could be confusing so we recommend checking our guide to complete it as well. Before we cover everything in detail, here are all the tasks you should do in general:

  • Find and speak with Thops
  • Find the Second Glintstone Key
  • Give the Key to Thops and get the gesture in return

First, you will need to meet Thops at the previously mentioned church, where he will mention that he needs a Glintstone Key to enter the Academy of Raya Lucaria to continue his studies. Thops won’t accept your key so you must have two of them.

From the exit of the boss room, you will want to go to the left and up a flight of destroyed stairs, then up another flight of stairs. At the top of this second flight, jump over a railing to the left, go up and to the left again, and jump over another railing onto the rooftops. Climb a ladder and then descend another set of rooftops until you reach the Chruch of Cuckoo. Once in the rafters, drop onto the chandelier with an item on it to collect the Glintstone Key. Return to Thops and give him the key to get the Erudition gesture.

It is confusing to find the correct path to reach the key, so we also recommend checking the Gaming with Abyss video to avoid confusion.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
