This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

A great tool for any kind of physical build in Elden Ring, especially those who make use of katanas or other fast-hitting weapons, the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia allows you to progressively increase the damage of attacks performed in succession to a maximum of 10%. But how exactly can you get the talisman?

How to Unlock the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia In Elden Ring, A Step-by-Step Guide

You can get the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia in Elden Ring by successfully aiding Millicent in killing her sisters. To unlock the ability to do that, first progress through her quest until you can talk to her at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace, located at Mountaintops of the Giants. You can check out the exact location of the Site of Grace in the image below.

After talking to her at the spot above, head to Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, and defeat the Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit located in the spot marked below. Be advised, as the fight will be rough given the enemy’s aggressive moveset and ability to continuously apply Scarlet Rot.

Once the Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit is no more, two summoning signs will then appear in the area. You will be able to assist Millicent after interacting with the golden one and will automatically receive the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia after returning to your world at the end of the battle.

If you are unsure if you are up to the task of facing the four sisters, don’t worry, as you will be able to repeat the fight as many times as it takes at no drawback after failing to defeat them.

How to Get Millicent to Mountaintops of the Giants

Although you can find a more detailed guide into how to complete her questline by heading to our Millicent Quest Guide, here’s a quick overview of how to progress through the quest until you unlock the ability to speak with her at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace.

  • Speak to Gowry at Gowry’s Shack and then defeat the Commander O’Neil boss in the Swamp of Aeonia to receive the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
  • Give the Needle to Gowry and then head to another Site of Grace before returning to him to receive the now-repaired Unalloyed Gold Needle.
  • Give the item to Millicent at the Church of the Plague and then talk to her again after resting at any Site of Grace.
  • Head to Gowry’s Shack and talk to Millicent there.
  • Talk to Millicent at a cliff north of the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace before heading to The Shaded Castle, getting the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis, and giving the item to her.
  • Defeat the Godskin Apostle at Windmill Village, rest at any Site of Grace, and then talk to Millicent at Windmill Heights to have her move to Ancient Snow Valley Ruins.

Keep in mind that you must exhaust the dialogues of both Millicent and Gowry during each step to progress.

You can play Elden Ring right now on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
