Hot on the heels of the post-apocalyptic Fallout 4, Rocket League will be adding a slew of new post-apocalypse themed items to the game with the “Chaos Run” DLC update. Due out in early December and available for $3.99, Rocket League: Chaos Run will bring thematically-similar cosmetic upgrades to the popular title. New paint jobs, antennas, car toppers, wheels, and car trailers are all included in the update. There are also two new cars being added to the game: Ripper and Grog. Released alongside Chaos Run, and most important to the core Rocket League experience, however, is the addition of a new map, entitled Wasteland. Whereas previous map updates in Rocket League have essentially been cosmetic only, featuring the same field dimensions and boost placements with just a different look, Wasteland is the first non-regulation arena in the game. It is based on a map from Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars and features a dramatically wider field of play, different boost placements, and a sloped arena perimeter. New strategies will have to develop to take advantage of this unique new map. In the update notes, developer Psyonix promises that Wasteland is “the first of many ‘unusual’ arena designs that we plan to introduce in the future.”
The map itself is free, as well as new music from Kevin Riepl (who has done music for Gears of War, Borderlands 2, Battleborn, and many others) and some yet to be announced garage items. Psyonix has also promised announcements over the next few weeks about future game updates. Ready to enjoy the post-apocalypse with Rocket League?
