Almost exactly two months ago, CD Projekt Red announced the next game in The Witcher RPG series. And today, CD Projekt has released an update to The Witcher 4: A New Saga that has reached the next milestone.
The Witcher 4 is now in pre-production. CD Projekt Red chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz reported that the “research phase” of The Witcher 4 has already been completed, and pre-production has begun.

The announcement was made during a developer briefing with investors, which also pointed out the game’s next steps. This usually means that the creative vision and rough story are set, and now created the basic structure of the game, hire developers, and determine the general development pipeline.
They are also already “very happy” with the game, which more than 100 developers are working on. CD Projekt’s brief statement was as follows:
“We have recently wrapped up the research phase, which means the project has now progressed to pre-production, and we’ve begun to capitalize development expenses related to this new game,”
According to Pcgamer, the research phase is possibly when the team decides where and when the game will be set, in addition to the return or introduction of new characters. CEO Adam Kiciński added that they are ‘very eager’ to revisit the universe that has shaped their history so much.
The next The Witcher is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 technology. But until then, you can experience The Witcher 3 again this year, which is currently being implemented for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
