Witchfire, an upcoming first-person shooter from the team behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, has unveiled a brand new gameplay trailer at the Summer Game Fest today. Check out the trailer below before we get into how awesome it looks!

Blasting Demons in a Ruined World

Witchfire Summer Game Fest 2022 Trailer

The world of Witchfire takes the worlds of religion and the supernatural to different lengths. A war with witches has been going south real fast, with the lands of the holy finding themselves being slaughtered at the hands of foul magic. With few options left, the Church finds itself calling on forbidden magics and using the vessels of sinners to create preyers, immortal hunters armed with all the divine retribution one could hope for. From powerful firearms and hard-hitting spells to a moveset filled with all the fluidity you can expect, it’s up to you to take the fight to the witch of the Black Sea and turn the tide of this war.

Let me say, this shooter looks absolutely fantastic. Not just from the fact that shooting looks equally fluid and satisfying, but the visuals look absolutely stunning. According to the Epic Games Store page, the team is pulling out the photogrammetry used in Ethan Carter to create an incredible world that already looks excellent. To say I’m excited about this game, not to mention a lot of the other games shown today, would be an understatement.

The Astronauts, developers behind the first-person shooter Witchfire, are a small indie studio out of Poland that focuses on small, hard-hitting games. While this likely means Witchfire will be fairly short in its final form, the greatness stored within should be excellent.

For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the game. Will you be destroying apparitions of evil witches in Witchfire? Did you love The Vanishing of Ethan Carter? Let me know!
