Star Wars Battlefront launched last week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. To no one’s surprise, it is sitting at the top of the UK gaming chart. This is not the only accolade that the popular shooter title has claimed, though, as it is the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time.

This serves as quite an achievement, as there is a huge catalog of Star Wars games. In addition, the game is not available on last generation consoles. Chart-Track claims that the title outsold the previous fastest-selling installment, The Force Unleashed, by 117%.

The DICE-developed game can also add some more awards to its name as it is “the fastest selling non-sequel PlayStation 4 title ever” and the fastest selling online only game, taking that title away from Destiny.

With the release of Star Wars: Episode 7 just a few weeks away, the results are not unexpected. It will be interesting to see if sales continue to rise when the film releases next month. This, in addition to the ‘Battle Of Jakku’ map launch, should keep things intriguing.

Star Wars Battlefront has received mostly positive reviews. The game does a great job of capturing the essence of the Star Wars films and has been praised for the many and diverse game modes. Unfortunately, there was no campaign mode included which disappointing some. This could be an issue rectified in future installments though as a sequel to the game has already been hinted at by EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen. He was quoted as saying that the “goal is to make future Battlefront games”.
